How Does KYBELLA Work?

Because aging and genetics can contribute to submental fullness, sometimes diet and exercise alone may not help. Multiple injections are given under the chin per treatment; up to 6 treatments may be given, at least 1 month apart. The safe and effective use of KYBELLA for the treatment of subcutaneous fat outside the submental region has not been established and is not recommended.

KYBELLA injection is supplied in a pack of 4 single-patient-use 2-mL vials.1 KYBELLA is administered by subcutaneous injections (maximum of 50 injections) into submental fat at approximately 0.2 mL per injection (up to a total of 10 mL), spaced 1 cm apart using a 30-G (or smaller) 0.5-inch needle. Up to 6 single treatments may be administered at intervals no less than 1 month apart.

Before each session, palpate the submental region to ensure appropriate submental fat and specify subcutaneous fat in the dermis and platysma (preplatysmal fat) area of the destination treatment. The number of injections and the number of therapies should be adapted to the individual patient’s submental fat distribution and treatment objectives.
